Food, Fussy And Being Healthy
Posted by ePlus on 19 June, 2006 at 23:56 pmPeople around here are so fussy. This evening I cooked some steak and I let someone taste a bit of it and they didn’t like it because it was too chewy?! WTF?
People around here, mainly kids and anyone who has actually lived a life without being licked in the ass and always had their food cut for them etc. (it wouldn’t surprise me if their parents haven’t chewed the food for them), would know about not being fussy, picky and not liking this and that or whatever.
When I was growing up I didn’t have the luxury to choosing what to eat and what to like. If there was chicken soup cooked we ate everything from the chicken (apart from the asshole), head, legs, neck, everything. No space for throwing things away. In thosedays TESCO didn’t exist. You couldn’t just “nip down to TESCO” and buy a ready meal. (Mind you with the amount of chemicals in these ready meals I’m surprised people aren’t addicted on them… Or aren’t they?! But that’s a rant in its own.) You had tocook a meal that would usually last a couple of days from what it was at the stalls were peasants would bring goods for sale. And just to point out, those goods weren’t packed/packaged or checked by health officials nor they had to follow any standards, so like the milk for example that would be put in 500ml - 2L bottles and then sold as it was! You got home, you boiled it and off you go. That was that. If that isn’t organic or what then I don’t know what it is.
And these days people bitch about some meatbeing too chewy. I mean people even bitch about the water tasting crap and that nice?! WHAT THE FUCK? Give me a break, lol, here in the UK where the water is purified 10x and contains 60% chlorine to kill all of the bacteria in the water, and people bitch about it tasting funny. Well what about the people in third world countries? Where they have to drink water from wells and lakes full of mud that have dead animals and whatever else floating in them, and you don’t see them bitch about it. And hereyou are, in the UK, one of the most advanced industrial economical countries in the world and the sixth largest gross domestic product in the world, people bitch about the water tasting crap from the tap. THE IRONY. I can bet money that if somethingbad happened and all of the things that people take for granted would disappear and people would have to resort to fend for themselves, to find food, build a shelter, etc. 99.9% of the UK population would DIE. Purely because of the things everyonetakes for granted. But lets hope that a day like that won’t come.
I have noticed that mothers of young children buy a lot of ready meals for their babies and young children. And also a recent survey says that around 70% of mothers give their children at least five times a week a ready made meal and/or take-aways. Great way to kill your kids and make them unhealthy. By giving babies meals from jars/cans that have their expiry date three years from when they were manufactured because of chemicals they contain to preserve the contents to me would trigger my “this shit is bad” alarm. I am no food expert, nutrition, doctor, or whatever, but from my logical view feeding a baby, kid and anyone with read made meals and take aways on a frequent basis would do some serious damage. I personally, am not surprisedby people here in the UK being diagnosed with cancer, various diseases and a lot more things.
You could say that there is no evidence that such foods cause any of the above or that they are even linked, but I am not going to take the risk. Yes I agree that mothers come home from work late and they can’t be bothered to prepare a meal from scratch but rather than having in later life a kid which is prone to getting colds often and or not being healthy because for years they have been feeding them ready meals and non-organic or no greens at all, I’ll rather pass.
It is scary at the amount of people I know that don’t like vegetables, such as tomatoes, salad, cabbage, asparagus, broccoli, cucumbers and fruits. I never ate asparagus until a year ago but when I was told that is good for you because it contains vitamin XYZ I ate it. Why? Becauseis good for me. Rather than eat that Mars bar why not an apple, even if its not organic, but the organic ones contain a higher amount of vitamins and are tastier.
This whole food issue is a very complicated matter and it would take me a lot longer to write it up to point the obvious. Bad food from early ages is bad for anyone. I went three years without catching a cold/flu or whatever and that’s because that I didn’t eat ready meals and fast foods. Or rarely, I would say I ate a take away once every 3-4 months. It is important to feed babies/kids greens and fruitsfrom a young age to make them healthy and to get them used with the healthy foods. I know people who eat chocolate in the mornings on an empty stomach. Well that’s their choice;I eat an apple/banana on an empty stomach before my lunch, which would consist of a brown bread egg salad sandwich (usually).
All in all what I have said above is due to a combination of common sense + logical thinking². And after reading all of that youre still saying “What?” - then your too much of a dumbass to even live.
